O Libelinha Venture foi adquirido por Xavier e Arantxa em maio de 2017, apenas dois meses antes de incêndios florestais devastarem toda a região. Embora nossa terra não tenha sido afetada, isso mudou completamente nossa perspectiva sobre como olhávamos para a terra que acabáramos de comprar e nos iniciou em uma jornada inesperada em direção à Eco-restauração.

 

The first step on this journey was to secure the land around our little piece of heaven so we could protect ourselves against possible future fires. This took us from our initial plot size of 4 hectares increasing it to 15 hectares.

In October 2019 we decided to re-landscape 3.5 hectares of land that the fires had passed through. Implementing a project of regeneration, creating reverse terraces and reservoirs to assist with water penetration into the ground. Planting indigenous trees with over 3000 Oak and Cork Oak seeds plus 1000 saplings on the slopes between the terraces, as well as planting 500 trees for agroforestry, and syntropic lines on the terraces, to date.

In 2022, we started the second stage of the project which is the creation of an educational community. To be a transition point for people wanting to move into this lifestyle, as well as a hub for people to support each other and learn together moving towards a more sustainable way of living. At the same time offer their children the opportunity to learn in nature so we can start the process of educating the next generation to work in harmony with nature.
